Royals at State Tournament

The Royals' 2011 team finished a great season by qualifying for the 4A state tournament and placing 9th overall. This marked the program's first appearance in the Washington state tournament since 1998. Congratulations on an impressive run, ladies!

Notable Alumni: Morgan De Carteret

After playing 3 seasons on KM's varsity team, the 2011 graduate has entered her first year at Bellevue College, playing as a 5'5" defensive specialist and setter for the Bulldogs, coached by Kim Culliton.

 


Notable Alumni: Raj Dhaliwal

Dhaliwal, a three-year varsity starter for Kent Meridian and '11 graduate has moved to the East Coast to play volleyball at Union College in Schenectady, New York. The current freshman is playing as a middle blocker for the Dutchwomen under head coach Melissa DeRan. Dhaliwal is majoring in Biology and minoring in Spanish and Chemistry and plans to attend med school after graduation.

 


Notable Alumni: Cherene O'Hara

Cherene O'Hara, a 6'1" middle blocker for the Royals and All-State team member as a senior is continuing her volleyball career at Edinboro University in Edinboro Pennsylvania. O'Hara is currently pursuing a major in Communications Broadcasting and a minor in Journalism.

 


Notable Alumni: Desiree Guitan

After graduating from Kent-Meridian in 2010, volleyball and basketball player Desiree Guitan is has continued to pursue her basketball career in Canada. Guitan has joined the Bearcats of Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, British Columbia and is pursuing a major in Psychology and a minor in Business.

Notable Alumni: Davina Fuiava

'09 Kent Meridian Graduate Davina Fuiava, captain and MVP for the Royals has continued volleyball career at Highline Community College in Des Moines, WA. The 5'6" sophomore was a setter for the Thunderbirds under coach Chris Littleman. Fuiava is also currently an assistant coach at Kent Meridian.

Notable Alumni: McKaley Brewer

McKaley Brewer, former captain for the Royals under Mike Christiansen and '09 graduate is now a junior at Linfield College in McMinnville, OR. Brewer played for the Wildcats as a 5'6" outside hitter and defensive specialist, coached by Shane Kimura. She is majoring in Athletic Training and plans on going to graduate school for Physical Therapy. Brewer returns to Kent Meridian during summers as an assistant coach for the Royals.


Michael Christiansen voted 2008 Coach of the Year

After leading the Kent Meridian volleyball team to its most successful season in 10 years, 3rd-year head coach Mike Christiansen was voted as SPSL South's 2008 Coach of the Year. The 2008 season marked the Royals' first appearance in the league/district playoffs since 2000.
